Bycocket

There are many descriptions of both women and men whilst riding, hawking and doing sport archery, wearing a crowned tall hat with an upturned brim sharply pointed at one end. They are noted as being either heavenly adorned with stones or embroidery sometimes with a feather in the front or back.

Plainer versions are also noted on archers as they are believed to help keeping the sun out of the eyes or turned around so the rain runs down the back and occasionally on men working in the fields with a coif underneath.
